One subject I hated at school and at nursing college was nutrition. When I started to read books on cancer, I fast forwarded any chapters on the subject of food. Then one day, I decided maybe I'd better do some reading - just in case. And I realised how I was giving my body so much extra work, just by eating badly.
So
- Tweak your diet. Eat plenty fruits, vegetables, and whole grain foods.
- As far as possible, avoid red meat and canned meat.
- Don't eat food, especially red meat, that has been braaid (barbequed). (Read more here on this topic.)
- Talk to your oncologist. Better still, ask for a referral to a dietician, especially one that specialises in cancer care.
